Description
This my project trying to portray the story of Candy written in the novel "Candy Candy Final Story" by Kyoko Mizuki or Keiko Nagita. Since the famous trial against Yumiko Iragashi, Mizuki has remained as the sole intellectual author of the story, and the mangaka cannot draw Candy without her consent. Is for that, that "Candy Candy Final Story" (in Japanese), and "Candy Candy Romanzo" (in Italian) do not use any drawing from the manga or the anime.
The idea is to illustrate the story again but leaving behind all the iconography as we know it (a.k.a. piggy tails!!). I am trying to follow the novel descriptions (that are not many), and research how would a girl growing up in Indiana in turn of the XX century would look like.
So you guess it, no piggy-tails, not male long hair, not hippy looks, not Beatles styling... just 1910s aesthetics!
I this particular image, you can sees the dance of Candy with Anthony... very romantic!!
Notice the POH brooch I have built it using 4 different brooches. It's mentioned in the novel that is silver.
Eliza's dress is one from Titanic. I goes well with her hair. Candy's dress in the dream is the one she was admiring in Eliza's room that she told her not to touch and it's descried as light green.
The Cornwell brothers and Anthony wears slightly different jackets although the same same tartan. Some people draws them with different tartan patterns and that is a mistake, because the whole idea of belonging to a clan is to wear the colors. As you know I chose the Class Ross colors for the Ardlays because that surname is English and they don't own a tartan. However the Andrews do and those are the colors they use. Red background with green and dark blue lines.
